Cheap glue bottles
Next time you empty a CA glue bottle don't throw it
away. Refill it with carpenter's glue, you may have to cutoff the nozzle more
to make a bigger hole for the thicker glue. In any case keep the top in case
you ruin the top of your next bottle. Take used CA bottles and tops and put
them in a old Jam jar filled with acetone in a few days it removes all the
old glue and makes them like new again.
What
Adhesive to Use what for Maximum Strength
?
If you use extension nozzles on
your glue bottles put a small pin in the end when you are done using it to
keep it from clogging up. Use a push pin the kind that are used on bulletin
boards. They have a large plastic end that make them easy to remove from the
bottle, they also work on bottles with out extension tips.

Glue
( Glue ) Now to save a lot, use an alternative to CA. You still need CA but
you won't use so much of it, Elmers Carpenter's Glue AKA Tightbond which is
used on furniture. I use it on wing ribs, sheeting, fuselage skin, etc. Many
places where you normally use CA. A bottle of Tightbond cost a buck something
at Wal-mart and will last for several
models, and with the CA going up in price, it's something to consider! It's
not instant but you can lay up all your ribs at once and let them set, like
before you quit for the day. An item that helps dispense the glue is a all
plastic syringe that you can get at your local hobby shop.
CA tip cleaning
Tired
of CA tips always plugging up? Just pick up a few extra extension tips and
when they get plugged up, just drop them in a jar with some acetone. Pull
another one out of the acetone and keep working. Tips will last forever
this way and you never have to mess with a plugged tip again.{This is a
great idea, acetone can be some nasty stuff however, read the directions
on the can it comes in and keep it away from fire and painted surfaces.
Acetone can also be used to removed CA from Monokote with out damaging the
Monokote .}I keep a jar full of glue tips as well as old CA bottles
soaking (various brands). The bottles are handy when buying those 8 ounce
CA refills.

Glow Plugs
On board glo
and Topics
Glow charger storage
Use a discarded 35mm film case (the plastic can the film comes packed
in) to hold you glow plug igniter on your field box. Drill two small holes
through the walls of the container about an inch apart then use two small
screws with washers to mount the container open side up on the side of you
flight box. If you have a very long tip on your starter you may have to cut
a hole in the bottom of the container to allow it to stick through.
One tip I can offer is to make sure it is not on the side you carry the box
on or you will hit it with your leg.

GLUE TIPS - CA
Cya applicator
for delicate work
(CLOGGING)
Here is a solution that will work. Buy
a package of extra tips and don't mutilate the tip when clogged. Instead,
put it in a tightly capped jar (baby food or olive oil), filled with acetone.
Acetone will dissolve the CA and will not affect the nozzle. The next day
it will be as good as new. Make sure the tip is dry and free of acetone before
installing on the bottle. Remember, acetone is a fire hazard so treat it as
such.
(STORAGE)
Everybody seems to have a secret on keeping CA adhesives usable for long periods
of time. One of the most popular is to store the CA in the refrigerator. However,
the answer may really be simply keeping moisture away from the opened container.
Bob does this by storing the opened CA bottles in a plastic baggie that has
silica
gel desiccant bags included. The silica gel keeps the moisture out and the
CA flowing. The silica gell can be revitalized by baking in you oven.

Better Grip
To improve your grip on your transmitter, especially during hot summer
months when your palms are more likely to sweat, stick some handle wrap
(the stuff they use on tennis rackets) on parts of the transmit er where
you hold, you'll get a better grip and it won't slip so much.

Drop something into the fuselage or wing cavity?
Can't get it out? Go down to your local hardware store or place that sells
cooking pots etc. and purchase a pickle grapple.
If the part is a little deeper, auto part stores have a longer version.
They also work great for replacing "T" nuts that sometimes pop out.
